Navy vessel (艦船 Kansen) was a group of categories in Japanese Navy. The word Kansen means all kind of ships, including warships and civil ships. Actually in Japanese Navy, all the ships and craft were categorized as Navy vessel which is owned by the Navy itself. In other words, mobilized ships (merchantmen, civil service ships, fishery ships etc.) served in the Navy, were not included in Navy vessel.

The category was first defined on 21 March 1898 as a highest level of categories, and lasted until the end of Japanese Navy after the World War II.
